WHAT HAPPENED?
That was me / The one you loved / But it’s not me anymore
Looking at you / I see someone / I never saw before
Your face still looks the same / But your clothes, all faded and torn
What happened to the dance you used to do / No more music / And the house is different too
I hear you changed your name / And changed religion too / I guess your old belief wasn’t good enough for you
What happened to the songs you used to sing / Did you lose your way / Or just forgotten everything
TOO MUCH STUFF
We got hundreds of channels
But nothin' worth watchin'
On the giant flat screen
That we bought on time
Our big SUV
Is drinkin' my paycheck
I'm runnin' on fumes
While it's robbin' me blind
The banker was smilin'
When we went to meet him
He gave us a check
Said I'll see you next time
So we built a new room
To put all our stuff in
We better add padding
'Cause I'm losin' my mind
We got too much stuff
We got too much stuff
My wallet is empty
Times are gettin' tough
Yeah we got too much stuff
SOME PEOPLE NEVER GO
Seems like yesterday
I had a friend
The stories and the laughs
Thought they'd never end
But now looking back
No one really dies
I remember everything
Yet I see through different eyes
Some people never go
They never go away
Once they come into your life
God will let them stay
You always have them in your heart
And even with the tears
You remember all the times
That happened through the years
LADY IN THE DARKNESS
She sits there in the corner
Mostly when it's dark
She may not speak a word
But she will always leave a mark
The only time she spoke to me
I did not understand
It was something about my future
And life in another land
Lady in the darkness
Her presence so aloof
She may scar you with a glance
But you can't escape her truth
